Renault introduces modified engine spec for Spain

Renault has confirmed it is bringing a revised specification of engine to this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, with the aim of increased reliability and driveability.

Having endured heavy criticism from partner team Red Bull, the French firm has been working hard since the previous round in Bahrain to improve a power unit that has so far lagged behind its Mercedes and Ferrari counterparts.

Director of operations Remi Taffin has revealed that a new specification of Renault engine will be introduced in Barcelona that should address some of the problems that have manifested themselves.

"The three week gap has given us an opportunity to look at all the information from the start of the season," said Taffin.

"We have been flat out to counter the issues encountered early on and we will have a modified spec of engine for this race that should give improved reliability and driveability.

"We are looking forward to Spain to see our hard work in action."
